  • Eluveitie – King

Fucking. Brilliant. That’s all I could think when Eluveitie announced King as a little taste of their upcoming album Origins, to be released on August 1st of this year. Origins is going to be soaked with the blood and history of Gaulish mythology and, as all content Eluveitie produces, will be dripping in folksy woodland deliciousness. How many bands do you know can flawlessly combine catchy guitar riffs, traditional Celtic reels, violin breakdowns, and brutal/meaningful vocals? Yes, a violin breakdown in the middle of a metal song. I no longer have words of praise for Eluveitie, they consistently deliver what fans want, releasing original and meaningful material that you can listen to time and time again. King takes the fucking crown for my favorite folk metal release this year and I’m not even sure ill be able to handle myself when the entire album is released.

  • Monuments – The Amanuensis

Recommended: I, The Creator

Clean vocals are Monument’s main game, a band with a cool Progressive approach to Djent. The guitar riffs and drums are signature Djent stuff, but those choruses with backup and lead vocals make all the difference. There’s even a “Core” approach with the additional Growl/Shout vocal style. All in all, Monuments pushed a great mix of different sounds with this album!
