• Patrick Saad’s Top Releases of July 2012

  • Coexistence Flow

Recommended: Seize the Day.

Made up of only two members, Coexistence released their self-produced debut album entitled “Flow” to positive reviews from online media. The songs are packed with enjoyable riffs and melodies reminiscent of bands like Wolverine and Symphony-X, although the overall sound (programmed drums) could have been better if this wasn’t an independent release. You can stream some songs from the album here.

For fans of: Progressive Metal.

  • Latitudes Individuation

Recommended: Shapeshifting and Hyperstatic Forge.

This band really reminds me of Mastodon’s “Crack The Sky” album with their thick guitar chords work and sludgy mood. Expect a surreal atmospheric ambiance, jazzy licks, clean vocals and beautiful layers of melodies throughout the album, this is one of the top releases of 2012!

For fans of: Mastodon, Atmospheric / Sludge Metal.

One of the old and most successful Progressive Rock bands with several major hits which used to be played all day on American and Canadian Radios. Saga never stopped making music, they are back with a very interesting album “20/20”.

For fans of: Kaipa, Yes and Genesis.
