I headed yesterday to Rock, Stock And Two Smoking Buds, the only “pure” Rock/Metal pub in Jbeil – Lebanon which opened some months ago next to Pizza Napoli (view Google Map), in order to participate in a Quiz Night group competition which more than 5 teams participated in.
The entrance fees per person were 5000 L.L and the grand prize of the night was a whiskey bottle. This trivia battle went through several rounds, where teams were given plenty of questions to answer in a relatively comfortable timeframe. There were also bonus questions between rounds where free shots got awarded to the team with the fastest correct answer.
The questions were all Rock / Metal related this time (there will also be questions on topics like movies and sports on future quizes), with the majority of the questions being about Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music and culture. The teams had to answer either multiple choice questions or matching questions with difficulty ranging from easy to difficult (like matching some musicians’ stage names to their real names – Shagrath -> Stian Tomt Thoresen, Slash -> Saul Hudson, etc).
My team (aptly called “The Four Horsemen”) ended up in 2nd place, but we had a blast answering the questions and we were the only team who won free shots that night!
Quiz Night is a winning idea for both the pub and the attendees; it’s better than Karaoke in my opinion as it’s both informative and fun.
