Who are Mortal Love?

Mortal Love is a gothic metal band from Norway established early in 2000. They use both male and female vocals in their music. Their major lyrical theme is love and despair. With the debut album All The Beauty, released in 2002 they started the trilogy based on a tragic love story based upon real events. The debut raised great reviews and the band also gathered a lot of fans around the world. They continued the story with the follow up album I have Lost in 2005. Now with the third album in 2006 they completes the trilogy with Forever Will Be Gone. For the third time the band recorded their album at Space Valley Studio with producer Zet. (from last.fm)

On behalf of Lebmetal.com I would like to thank Rain6 for making this short interview.

This interview was done with Rain6, guitar player of Mortal Love.

Lebmetal: Can you tell us more about the upcoming album? (Title, tracks, etc…) Is it related to the triology “all the Beauty”, “I Have Lost” and “Forever Will Be Gone”?

Mortal Love: There is not much I can tell with regards to title and tracks right now. We have some thoughts and ideas about what things will look like, but we’re going to keep it to ourselves a little while longer. What I can say for certain is that the album will NOT be
related to the trilogy. It will be it’s own entity, and it will be something completely
separate from the trilogy.

Lebmetal: What do you think are your greatest hits in the former albums?

Mortal Love: Tough question. I don’t know what the “hits” are, but one of my favorites both musically and lyrically is “Memory”. Same with “While Everything Dies”. Our song “I Want To Die” seems to be a song that resonates with a lot of people, and it has taken on a life of its own.

Lebmetal: Where most of the lyrics inspired from personal life of the band members?

Mortal Love: Definitely. Not only inspired, sometimes it is word for word what we have experienced and felt.

Lebmetal: Congratulation for Cat we have been informed through mortal love official page (http://www.mortallove.com/Home.html) that she is pregnant. Will we see lyrics in the new album talking about motherhood?

Mortal Love: No.

Lebmetal: I have noticed that Mortal Love do not have a complete official page , you guys communicate with the fans directly through myspace, facebook, twitter and many other pages… why?

Mortal Love : I’m not sure I agree with you on that one. www.mortallove.com is as official as it gets. However, we choose to utilize the ease and, as you say, directness of different social media. It is truly a fantastic way to interact with fans. As work on the new album continues, I encourage everyone to follow us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mortal-Love/94134044060) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/MORTALLOVE) in particular – lots of cool stuff and exclusive previews will come your way!

Lebmetal: Finally will we ever see Mortal Love Live in concert in Lebanon ? And any final words for the fans?

Mortal Love: That would be absolutely fantastic and we would LOVE to play in Lebanon. Mortal Love would like to thank each and everyone of you for supporting us and being patient even though things sometimes don’t happen as soon and as fast as both you and we would like them to.

We love you!
